Meet The Instructors

  • Zac is a fun, energetic music teacher who loves sharing the sounds and stories of bluegrass music. He’s been playing guitar and upright bass for over 15 years and has performed at festivals, music camps, and stages across the country. By day, Zac works at the University of Kentucky but most evenings and weekends you can find him listening to old bluegrass records, leading worship at church, or chasing his two little girls around the yard. Zac’s goal is to help every student feel inspired, included, and ready to make music they’re proud of.

  • Jayd Raines is a multi-instrumentalist originally from Powell County, Kentucky, an area known for cranking out bluegrass musicians. Spending over a decade as a full-time musician, he has worked with some of the best in the business including Marty Raybon, Don Rigsby and Larry Cordle, and has been featured on multiple award nominated albums. He is proficient on banjo, guitar and bass and sings multiple vocal parts. Although he is no longer traveling much, Jayd still enjoys playing music locally and is excited to foster a love for Kentucky 's music through Leeds’ Bluegrass University program.
